Substance Use and Misuse in Individuals with IDD

Write a Review

Though substance (ab)use and addiction sometimes are seen as a condition afflicting only a small subgroup of socially marginalized persons, these stereotypes are far from reality. The use and misuse of psychoactive substances such as alcohol, cannabis, and other illicit drugs is widespread across society, and affects a wide variety of people including persons with IDD. In this webinar we will focus on screening and assessment of substance use, refferal to addiction services, and substance use treatment strategies, including adaptations that need to be made to accommodate individuals with IDD.
