Speaker: Charles R. Moseley, EdD, National Association of State Directors Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS), Alexandria, VA.
The number of persons with co-occurring DD and MI is significant. Because of the nature of their needs community service options can be both limited and costly. As a result, people with co-occurring conditions are frequently referred to as constituting one of the "special populations" of individuals who are thought to "require" institutional care and restrictive programming. This session will provide an overview of the challenges facing state developmental disabilities organizations serving this group of individuals and the strategies states are using to address their needs.
