This presentation will describe the Positive Behavior Support (PBS) model for challenging behaviors in persons with dual diagnosis. This process of adding mental health conditions to the Functional Behavioral Assessment procedures is reviewed, and the process of building PBS strategies that reduce or elminate challenging behaviors is explained, with a case vignette to explicate. Standards of Best Practices in PBS are briefly reviewed vis-a-vis the NADD Clinical Certification criteria.
